Yesterday was class three in the Goddess Hoop Dance four-week series. By now the ladies have learned Pump–basic waist hooping–and how to move around a bit while in Pump, taking steps forward and back, right and left, mixing it up with a turn and even a twirl here and there, all while keeping the hoop going.
Last week we covered Float and Wild West–taking the hoop from the waist overhead and hooping up there and then bringing it back onto the waist, again.
This week they learned Booty Blitz. The beauty of the booty is that it loves the hoop. Women’s hips are designed to swing and the hoop issues a compelling invitation to let go and make the most of what your mama gave you. Booty hooping frees up plenty of space for the arms to move in countless expressive ways and boosts both the cardio benefits and opens a whole new world of ways to up the danciness-factor of one’s personal hoop dance.
If you are in the in the Bay Area, I have a new class series starting May 1st. For those of you who live elsewhere, there are tons of online resources for getting your hoop on and moving.
