Last Saturday, I kicked off the first class of the Goddess Hoop Dance Beginner Series. We are off to a great start! The ladies range in age from early thirties to mid sixties and are all relatively new to hoop dance, most of them had only recently gotten their first hoop. Everyone mastered Pump (basic waist hooping) and by the end of the class they were all able to keep the hoop going while moving around the room.
I don’t know of anything more fun than seeing someone accomplish a new hoop move that they didn’t know they could do. We all light up like four-year olds who have just discovered the delight of twirling. As it turns out twirling combines easily with hoop dance, too! Double delight! It’s nearly impossible to keep the smile off your face when the rhythm of the music and the rhythm of the hoop and the rhythm of the body come together through you.
I have done so many different kinds of work in my life, from waitressing, to hair styling, to intuitive astrology readings, to teaching people to meditate and develop their intuition; today I do sessions that help them to eradicate old, stale beliefs and energize their lives through use of the breath. Hoop dancing is a whole different animal, though. It has ignited a fire in me like nothing else ever has. I am thrilled to be able to share the joy and celebration that is hoop dance and help others discover fire for themselves.
